Description
Supreme has a long list of collaborations with pop icons and street culture but none of have called themselves "The Dragon." As part of the Fall/Winter 2013 accessories collection Supreme dropped a limited edition deck paying respect to a very honerable Chinese/American icon, martial arts legend and Kung Fu Master, the one and only the late Bruce Lee. This Supreme Bruce Lee Skate Deck features a silver screen Bruce Lee straight out of his 1973 Enter the Dragon, a Hong Kong martial arts action film directed by Robert Clouse. This was Bruce Lee's final film appearance before his death on July 20, 1973, at the age of 32. The film was released on July 26, 1973, six days after Lee's death, in Hong Kong. This Iconic image depicts the notable scene in which Lee is fighting a fist full of guards and annihilates them all. Lee was not only a pioneer of action cinema, he forced the medium to adapt to his agility. Lee's lightning-quick and kinetic movements when shot conventionally looked deliberately sped up or just swooped past in a blur of prowess. The fight sequences were shot at 32 fps which added exposure to the energy. When played back at normal speed, the violent choreography was still breathtakingly rapid, but the human eye could now keep up. What is even more special about this imagery is that, this is when Lee metamorphosis into the nickname "The Dragon" in Chinese superstition this was Lee's destiny: according to the Chinese zodiac, Lee Jun-fan was born in both the Year and Hour Of The Dragon (1940 and between 06:00 and 08:00 respectively). A bold omen for one who would become so mythic. The legend of "The Dragon", Bruce Lee. Martial artist, actor, film director, screenwriter, producer and father will live on forever... R.I.P.Supreme's Fall/Winter 2013 collection dropped August 29, 2013 also included the Tasmanian Devil, Virgin Mary Jesus and homage to the World Trade Center through highly collectable accessories.
