This is the eleventh installment in the Nike Lebron signature line and it truly takes a turn toward the future. Last year Jason Petrie drew his design inspiration from diamonds and other of the fine jewels and rocks found on our planet. But this new NL11 draws it's inspiration from the more mysterious rocks found in outer space that feature wider natural cuts and metallic surfaces. He executes this concept by implementing the "space age" material (Foamposite) that was so ahead of it's time even when he got his start with Nike in the early 2000's. He also included some fundamental Nike design philosophies that arose from the days of the Nike Alpha Project, like the seemingly non-existent midsole.
Among the biggest performance improvements is the decrease in weight (14.5 oz) which has been an issue with Lebron shoes for years. The shoe features a Hyperposite and Hypefused upper that features the latest Flywire technology to offer increased comfort and lock down to the feet of the NBA's best. The midsole features the lightest foam available now which is Lunarlon, as opposed to the standard Phylon one that had been used for over a decade. This Lebron signature breaks away from the Air Max unit that had given it support since the Lebron 6 model, instead making use of a Full Length Zoom cushioning within the Lunarlon. Replacing the diamond traction pattern of the NL10 is a new Hexagonal one clearly references Lebron's number 6.
Throughout the shoe there are a few details that reference Lebron like that hexagonal traction patten which also implements the letter "X" representing the decade of Lebron models that came before. On the tongue tab is the standard "LJ" Crown logo as well as a new embroidered ambigram that spells out "SIX" while also showing the roman numeral "XI" in overlapping characters. Another ambigram appears on the insole which spells out "Lebron" and when flipped reads "James". This model is a true design wonder being simplistic yet highly complicated all at once. This first color way is a true standout due to the use of carbon fiber. Be sure to add this pair to your Nike Lebron collection.
