The film ParaNorman is a horror/comedy animated film about a little boy, Norman Babcock, who can speak to the dead. Nike immediately created a genius marketing and public advocacy campaign surrounding the theme of the movie and featuring the infamous Nike Foamposite One silhouette. The product was a super limited (800 pairs) "ParaNorman Foam" shoe that was only attainable through a Twitter contest and a few Ebay auctions. About 80 pairs were auctioned and a majority of the proceeds went to Lady Gaga's "Born This Way Foundation" who aims at empowering youth and promoting individuality.
This is one of the most special "Premium" Foamposite editions to ever release due to all of it's cool features. The upper is mostly black with electric green accents and printed green flames that appear to be rising from the Glow In The Dark translucent rubber outsole. The laces feature printed text on the tips as well as some cool monster lace locks (reminiscent of the Coraline Dunks). The heel tabs feature embroidered text reading "WEIRD WINS", a Norman silhouette on the left shoe and Nike Swoosh on the right shoe. The insoles feature a very cool ghost design screen printed on them. The usual "Penny 1 cent" logo on the tongue is replaced by a "P" (right) and an "N" (left). One of the most amazing features about this release was it's packaging which was a black box that read "You Don't Become A Hero By Being Normal" on the outside. The box was sealed and could only be opened by pulling on the "Deadstock Seal" that reads "Pull To Undeadstock". On the inside is the pair hidden inside a dust bag and the text "It's all fun and games until someone raises the dead." These shoes are as premium a release as it gets and are extremely limited. A true Nike collector's dream pair and a Foam-heads holy grail, these a re a must have in any collection.
