This is a vintage Chalk Line jacket for the Miami Dolphins in a mostly teal green color with white and orange accents. The Miami Dolphins were founded in 1966 by Joe Robbie as an expansion team of the AFL that would join the NFL after the 1970 merger. Coached by the legendary Don Shula and led by quarterback Bob Griese, the Dolphins reached Super Bowl VI (6) after the 1971 season but lost to the Dallas Cowboys. However in 1972 the Dolphins completed the NFL's first and only undefeated year by winning all 14 season games, 2 playoff games, and Super Bowl VII (7). Then in 1973 they repeated by winning Super Bowl VIII (8) and becoming the first team to appear in three consecutive Super Bowls and only the second team to win back to back. In 1981 the Dolphins made a playoff run and lost a game against the San Diego Chargers that is known as "The Epic In Miami" for the 24-0 comeback Miami made to take the game into overtime. The next year they made it to Super Bowl XVII (17) and lost. After those years it became the Dan Marino era in Miami as the rookie Marino took over and set numerous records. He led them to Super Bowl XIX (19) where they lost to the San Francisco 49'ers. This jacket is from Marino's time and was worn by many fans and players themselves.
