This is the Apex One Michigan Wolverines Windbreaker Jacket. The Wolverines refers to the mascot for the University of Michigan athletics. Michigan football has roots going back to the origins of the sport. Their first Football game was in 1879, only a decade after the original game was played in 1869 between Rutgers and Princeton. Since, the Wolverines have won 11 national championships and 42 Big Ten Conference titles. During the 1990's Michigan became known as a quarterback school which bred the likes of Brian Griese and most notably Tom Brady. Michigan Basketball on the other hand has a long history of achievement. In 1989 they won the NCAA Tournament Championship behind a dominant performance by Glen Rice. Most of us remember the school behind the mention of "The Fab 5" who were the 1991 recruiting class of 5 freshmen starters that included Jalen Rose, Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Ray Jackson, and Jimmy King. The Fab 5 would go to back to back NCAA National Championship games but would lose to Duke (1992) and UNC (1993). In 2013 they made the national championship game, led by point guard Trey Burke, but would lose to an explosive Louisville Cardinal team coached by Rick Pitino. Nonetheless the Michigan Wolverines have been a factor in both sports for a very long time and this jacket is from that memorable "Fab 5" era.
