This is the Air Jordan V (5) Retro GS (Grade School) size in black, metallic silver and fire red which released in 2011. Designer Tinker Hatfield and the "main man" Michael Jordan drew inspiration from the World War II P-40 "Warhawk" fighter jet, which was symbolic of "His Airness'" high-flying ability. The most notable detail of this inspiration was the shark teeth-like shapes on the midsoles. The shoes feature the now-popular Reflective 3M material on the tongue and introduced a lace lock to make tightening the shoes easier. Another new element introduced on this model was the use of clear rubber (gel) on the sole, which gave the shoes a new look and supplied MJ with more traction as he charged to the basket.
