This is a an Adidas sweater commemorating the Winter Olympics held in Lake Placid, New York (U.S.A). The front of the sweater features the logo of the XIII Winter Olympics (1980). In the 1980 Winter Olympics the U.S. National hockey team, which was made up of young college players, went up against a heavily favored Soviet team who had won four consecutive gold medals and came out victorious, then faced Finland to win the gold. The victory would become known as "Miracle On Ice" and would go down in history as a symbol of America's battles against Communism. On the back is the logo for the III Winter Olympics (1932) which were also held in Lake Placid, NY and would be the first Winter Olympics to be held in the U.S. The games were opened by newly appointed President Franklin D. Roosevelt as the U.S. went on to lead all countries with 12 gold medals. This sweater holds much historical value in terms of politics and sports but also as a vintage Adidas piece that is quite difficult to come by. Do not miss this opportunity to add it to your collection.
