This is a vintage Adidas crewneck sweatshirt commemorating the 1968 and 1972 Winter Olympics. These Olympics were important as they took place in the midst of Cold-War tension. The 1968 Winter Olympic (the 10th Games of the Olympiad) took place is Grenoble, France within the French Alps. These were the first Winter Olympics to be broadcast on color television. The 1972 Winter Olympics (11th Games of the Olympiad) were held in Sapporo, Japan and were the first to be held outside the U.S. or Europe. There was a lot of controversy relating to amateurism as an Austrian skier was not allowed to compete due to his name and photo being used in advertisements, however professional hockey players from Communist nations were allowed to participate. This shirt holds much history and features flags and illustrations corresponding to these Olympics. Vintage collectors do not miss out on an amazing item.
